Role: Learning Designer
Deliverable(s): A complete concept designed to bring concepts of "matching" to increase employee engagement.
As part of a course assignment, our team was tasked with creating a mentoring program for the Office of Employee Development (OED) at Wayne State University. Our team developed a concept called "Mash-Ups", which are based on successful concepts used for "matching" people outside of the workplace. examples include social media, online dating or internet gaming.
The most effective learning experiences are not a simple knowledge transfer from one party to another; they are conversations which reinforce each other and benefit everyone involved. We advocate that an informal learning experience can open the door to a long-term working and learning relationship which will ultimately be more beneficial to the learners and the organization.
Learning Outcomes
1.    Create interpersonal connections by contributing to the activities with colleagues/Mashers you either haven't met before, or don't know very well.
2.    Gain an understanding of which Mashers you'd like to engage with after Informal Activities.
3.    Determine which Mashers you would like to get to know further via the Mash-Up App after the conclusion of the Informal Activities.
4.    Mashers grow professionally by forming connections with each other and by considering new learning possibilities which will further institutional goals.
